Welcome to the Rocks, Soil, & Erosion Unit!
In this unit, students will explore the materials that make up Earth’s surface and discover how natural processes shape the land around us. Through investigations, observations, and hands-on activities, students will learn about different types of rocks, the composition and importance of soil, and the processes that break down and move Earth materials. Students will examine how weathering creates sediment, how erosion transports rock and soil from one place to another, and how these processes gradually change Earth's surface over time. By the end of the unit, students will be able to identify the characteristics of rocks and soil, explain the causes and effects of erosion, and describe how Earth's surface is continually changing through natural processes.
